FC Barcelona lost its floor general Thomas Heurtel for a large chunk of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season. On Monday, veteran point guard underwent a surgery to repair a partial tear of the patellar tendon in his left knee, an injury he suffered with the French national team during the preparations for the upcoming World Cup. The club announced that Heurtel's expected recovery is five months, which will leave him sidelined for the rest of this calendar year, and will not be returning to the court until the latter stages of the EuroLeague regular season, which tips off on October 3. A veteran of eight EuroLeague seasons, Heurtel is all-time career leader with 5.6 assists per game and ranks third in EuroLeague history with 1,173 career assists. Heurtel has averaged 10.4 points and 4.8 assists without missing any of 35 EuroLeague games last season.
