There's a first time for everything, and on Tuesday afternoon, that meant Zenit St Petersburg participating in a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Media Day one week in advance of its debut in the continent's top competition. Sibur Arena, hard by the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea, was the scene of the club's first such gathering with local and international journalists for a series of interviews, photo shoots and videotaping. But rest assured that Zenit arrives to the big dance with plenty of individual players who have been this way before. The only players on the roster without previous EuroLeague experience are Anton Pushkov, Vladislav Trushkin and Austin Hollins. It is the fans in St Petersburg who will learn what the European elite is all about, especially when Zenit hosts its home opener in Round 2 of the regular season, against FC Barcelona on Friday, October 11!
All in the family
All 18 EuroLeague teams are holding their respective Media Days in the run-up to a historic season that will have more games than ever as 18 teams from nine countries vie over eight months to give fans the best basketball experience possible on the way to the crowning of a continental champion at the Final Four in Cologne, Germany next May!
