A speedy guard with great heart and a big-game mentality, Tyrese Rice is the only Turkish Airlines EuroLeague rookie this century to have had the ultimate impact of deciding a Final Four. Now with Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, Rice debuted in 2013-14 with Maccabi Tel Aviv, getting better phase by phase before exploding on the biggest stage of all, the Final Four.

The first hint of what Rice had in store was his 13 points in the last 7 minutes of Maccabi's series-changing overtime road upset of host Milan in Game 1 of the playoffs. Back on the same floor in Milan for the Final Four, his game-winning basket with 5.5 seconds stunned CSKA Moscow 67-68 in the semifinals. Two nights later, he scored 21 of his career-high 26 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as Maccabi downed Real Madrid for the trophy.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

  • EuroLeague Champion 2014
  • Final Four MVP 2014

After winning the following season's EuroCup title as MVP with Khimki Moscow Region, Rice returned to the EuroLeague for Khimki, FC Barcelona and now Panathinaikos. But his legacy was written in golden letters in that unforgettable weekend that ended with Maccabi's only title this decade. Rice, a single father at the time, lifted the Final Four MVP award as his young son Ashawn embraced him, leaving an iconic EuroLeague image of the 2010s.
