Panathinaikos OPAP Athens has announced the termination of its cooperation with head coach Argyris Pedoulakis by mutual consent less than 24 hours after the team's 105-106 double-overtime home defeat at the hands of ALBA Berlin on Thursday. The loss, its second at home this season, dropped Panathinaikos to a 4-4 record and ninth place in the standings. The team's announcement said that assistant coach Giorgos Vovoras would direct the team.

Thus marks the end of Pedoulakis's third stint on the Panathinaikos bench. He coached the Greens from 2012 to 2014, leading the team to the 2013 Greek League title and back-to-back Greek Cups in 2013 and 2014. Pedoulakis returned to Panathinaikos late in the 2015-16 season before resigning in October. He also played for Panathinaikos from 1986 to 1992. Pedoulakis started his coaching career with Peristeri and joined Makedonikos in the 2004-05 season, reaching the EuroCup final. He has also coached several other Greek teams, including Panellinios, Rethymno Aegean, PAOK Thessaloniki and AEK Athens, as well as UNICS Kazan of Russia.
