Maccabi fortifies backcourt with Jackson

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv filled a major need in its backcourt by signing former EuroLeague champion Aaron Jackson for the remainder of the season, the club announced Monday. Jackson (1.90 meters, 33 years old) arrives from the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged 16.0 points and 10.1 assists in 15 games this season. He is a veteran of six EuroLeague seasons of which all but one were in a CSKA Moscow uniform. Jackson reached five Final Fours with CSKA and helped it win the EuroLeague in 2016. He also captured five VTB United League crowns in his time in Moscow.

Jackson arrives to fill the point guard role which became a need recently when starter Nate Wolters and reserve and team captain John DiBartolomeo were both lost to injuries in the same game. Best known for his intense defense and leadership, Jackson should fit in right away. He began his EuroLeague career with Bilbao of Spain in 2011 and has also played for Antalya in Turkey, Virtus Bologna in Italy and Houston in the NBA.

"Jackson is very experienced player in the EuroLeague," Coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos said. "He has quality as a player on and off the court and I'm very happy that we will have him with us helping and jelling into the quality roster that we have."
