Baskonia and Coach Ivanovic reunite

KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Coach Dusko Ivanovic are together again after the sides agreed on a contract that will put Ivanovic on the Baskonia sidelines for the remainder of the season. He will be on the bench already for Baskonia's game against ALBA Berlin on Thursday. Ivanovic, the winningest coach in Baskonia history, replaces Velimir Perasovic, whose contract was terminated last week. Ivanovic, 62, arrives from Besiktas JK Istanbul, where he has coached since the start of the 2018-19 season. This will be Ivanovic's third stint with Baskonia; he previously coached the club from 2000 to 2005 and again from 2008 to 2012. Ivanovic led the club to two of its three Spanish League titles (2002 and 2010), to the EuroLeague Finals in 2001 and to the EuroLeague championship game in 2005. He also helped Baskonia lift the Spanish Copa del Rey trophy three times (2002, 2004 and 2009).

A two-time EuroLeague champion as a player with Jugoplastika Split, Ivanovic started his head coaching career with Fribourg Olympic of Switzerland and has also coached Limoges CSP of France, FC Barcelona of Spain, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens of Greece and Khimki Moscow Region of Russia as well as the Swiss and the Bosnian national teams. He helped Fribourg win three consecutive Swiss League titles from 1997 to 1999. Ivanovic won three titles - the French League, French Cup and Korac Cup - with Limoges in the 1999-00 season. He also lifted another Spanish Copa del Rey trophy with Barcelona in 2006 and won back-to-back Swiss Cups with Fribourg in 1998 and 1999. Ivanovic has a 153-114 record in the EuroLeague (57.3% wins).
