Felipe Reyes of Real Madrid achieved a new milestone in his legendary Turkish Airlines EuroLeague career on Tuesday by becoming just the fifth player to reach 3,000 points in competition history. Playing in just his second game this season due to injury, the 39-year-old big man stepped out and hit his first points of the season from three-point distance to top the milestone. Real went on to lose 60-55 to CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital.

Reyes finished the game with those same 3 points for a total of 3,001 in 347 career games. He is also the EuroLeague's all-time leader in total rebounds, with 1,782, although Paulius Jankunas of Zalgiris Kaunas is right behind him with 1,780. Reyes is far and away the greatest offensive rebounder this century in the EuroLeague, with 695 and counting. The nearest player to him, Kyle Hines of CSKA, has 551 offensive rebounds to date. He also ranks second all-time with 1,281 free throws made and third with 961 two-pointers.

Reyes began his EuroLeague career with Estudiantes Madrid in 2000 and, along with Luis Scola of AX Armani Exchange Milan, is the only player still active from that inaugaral season under Euroleague Basketball. Reyes joined Real in 2004 and is now in his 16th consecutive season with the Spanish powerhouse. In his role as team captain, he has lifted the EuroLeague trophy twice, in 2015 and 2018, and also won the 2006-07 EuroCup title with Real. Reyes was voted to the 2014-15 All-EruoLeague First Team and was recently became a EuroLeague All-Decade nominee for the period between 2010 and 2020.

A long-time warrior inside the paint whose positioning and strength made him the nemesis of taller and higher-jumping big men, Reyes diversified his game to become a double-digit scorer with the help of some three-point shots this decade, when he was well past his 30th birthday. He has also been a staple of the successful Spanish national teams of the last 15 years, winning the 2005 World Cup to go along with three Olympic medals, silver in 2008 and 2012, then bronze in 2016.

The upper reaches of the all-time scoring charts have had a lot of action this season already. Over one week in mid-November, another pair of power forwards, Georgios Printezis of Olympiacos Piraeus and Paulius Jankunas of Zalgiris Kaunas, became the third and fourth 3,000-point scorers in EuroLeague history, respectively. And then on January 2, Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos surpassed EuroLeague Legend Juan Carlos Navarro (4,152) to become the all-time top scorer in the competition with 4,167 after Round 18. Nando De Colo of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, with 2,960 points entering Round 19, and Real's Sergio Llull, with 2,945, are the next likely 3,000-point scorers.
