In the midst of the playoffs race, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv has made a big decision on its future, too, by signing star guard Scottie Wilbekin to a new three-year contract until 2023, the club announced on Wednesday. Wilbekin (1.88 meters, 26 years old) is the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague's sixth-best scorer at present, averaging 16.3 points per game during this, his second season with Maccabi. Wilbekin is the league leader in three-pointers made with 69. Only two players with better three-point accuracy than Wilbekin's 44.0% have made more than 45 triples. He leads Maccabi in minutes played (26:43 per game), assists (3.5) and steals (1.3), as well. Wilbekin has led the team to fifth place so far with a 14-7 record and 13 game remaining in the regular season as Maccabi pushes for its first playoffs appearance since 2015.

Wilbekin is in his fourth EuroLeague season overall, having debuted with Darussafaka Istanbul in 2015-16, when he averaged 10.3 points coming off the bench. He became a part-time starter the next season and put up 11.6 points per game as Darussafaka took Real Madrid to Game 4 of the playoffs before losing the series. The following year, Wilbekin had one of the best 7DAYS EuroCup seasons ever, becoming the 2017-18 scoring leader and MVP of the season, the regular season, the semifinals and the finals while leading Darussafaka to the title. He joined Maccabi last season and scored 12.9 points per game as the Israeli powerhouse rallied from a 1-8 start but missed the playoffs by a single victory. Despite missing one season since his debut, Wilbekin is tied for fourth among all EuroLeague players with 239 three-pointers made in the last five years.

"I am very happy to wear the yellow shirt for another three years," Wilbekin said after signing. "I am hungry for success and titles with Maccabi."
