Reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion CSKA Moscow locked up one of the most important members of its backcourt by signing veteran guard Daniel Hackett to a two-year contract extension, the club announced on Friday. Hackett (1.93 meters, 32 years old) is averaging 7.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals as a part-time starter for the champs, which he joined in the summer of 2018. His hard work, defensive effort and leadership have been important for CSKA since he arrived and Hackett played a major role on the big staged with 7 points and 5 assists plus stellar defense in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game last season to help CSKA beat Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
Hackett is in his eighth EuroLeague season with his fifth different team. He has also suited up for Brose Bamberg in Germany, Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece and Montepaschi Siena and AX Armani Exchange Milan in his native Italy. Hackett has also played for Benetton Treviso and Scavolini Pesaro in Italy. He is closing in on several career milestones that could be attainted this season including 200 career games, 500 rebounds and a spot in the all-time top 20 in assists. He enters Round 25 with 289 games played, 497 boards and 2 short of 20th place with 282 career assists.
