LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne started filling its roster for the 2020-21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season by reuniting with veteran swingman Paul Lacombe, who signed a contract for the next four years, the club announced on Friday. Lacombe (1.98 meters, 29 years old) returns to ASVEL, the club where he grew up and turned pro as an 18-year old in 2008, making Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut a season later. Lacombe played the last three years with fellow French League side AS Monaco. Last season, he helped Monaco reach the 7DAYS EuroCup Quarterfinals, averaging 6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Lacombe has previously spent five seasons and played more than 130 games with ASVEL, winning the French League title in 2009 and a Leaders Cup crown in 2010. Lacombe also played four seasons with Strasbourg, including a pair of EuroLeague campaigns, the last in the 2015-16 season. He has a total of 21 appearances in the EuroLeague, averaging 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assist and 1.0 steals. Lacombe is also a member of the French national team, and has won the bronze medal at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. "I left the club in 2013, but I obviously always kept a very special place in my heart for it", Lacombe said. "Coming back to ASVEL one day was a no-brainer in my mind and I'm very happy that it could be done now."
