ASVEL, Lighty together until 2024

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne announced a new agreement with guard David Lughty, who extended his contract until the end of the 2023-24 season on Thursday. Lighty (1.95 meters, 32 years old) was under contract for two more seasons, but the new agreement make him stay in ASVEK for two extra campaigns. He averaged 9.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 27 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season, his fifth with ASVEL in two different stints. He has helped ASVEL win two French League titles in 2016 and 2019, and a French League Cup crown in 2019. Lighty started his career with Italian side Bennet Cantu, making his EuroLeague debut in the 2011-12 season. He has also played for Vanoli Cremona, Dolomiti Energia Trento and Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari of Italy, and Nanterre of France, to which he helped win the French League title in 2013 and lift the French Cup trophy in 2014. "For me, the future of LDLC ASVEL cannot be imagined without David. I have never hidden my special attachment for this player and I think I am not the only one at the club!," ASVEL president Tony Parker said. "I am very pleased that David has accepted this proposal and we will ensure that he ends his career with us in the best possible way."
