ALBA Berlin showed its ready to challenge for the title by dominating RASTA Vechta 72-102 for its third straight victory at the German League Final Tournament. Peyton Siva tallied 16 points with 7 assists to pace five players in double figures for ALBA, which improved to 3-0 in Group B. Rokas Giedraitis scored 15 points, Landry Nnoko had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Jonas Mattisseck and Niels Giffey both scored 11 points for ALBA, which will face MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg on Monday June 15 for first place in the group. Vechta dropped to 0-3 despite Trevis Simpson scoring 21 points and Jaroslaw Zyskowski picking up 16 points. Brose Bamberg beat Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt 99-83 in the other game of the day.
Siva and Tyler Cavanaugh both hit three-pointers as ALBA raced away for a 3-16 lead. Kenneth Ogbe added made it 6-20 as ALBA sped ahead 13-26 after 10 minutes. Mattisseck drained two treys early in the second quarter before Cavanaugh and Giedraitis also hit from the outside in a 0-12 run for a 16-46 lead. Siva added another long ball and a three-point play and ALBA was ahead 31-58 at the break.
Vechta tried to get back into the game with Simpson scoring six points early in the third quarter and while ALBA turned down its intensity, Giedraitis hit twice from long range and Johannes Thiemann scored two inside baskets as the lead was 45-75. The cushion was 50-79 after 30 minutes. Siva hit yet another three early in the fourth quarter and ALBA head coach Aito Garcia Reneses made sure his players who needed some rest got some and those who needed some rhythm got those minutes to coast to the win.
