Bayern boosts lowpost with Thomas

FC Bayern Munich boosted its frontcourt by signing center Malcolm Thomas to a contract for this season and an option for a second year, the club announced Tuesday. Thomas (2.06 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, where he averaged 2.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 12 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season. Thomas began the season with Shanxi of China, where he posted 15.7 points and 13.0 rebounds in three games. 

Thomas began his professional career with Mobis Phoebus of South Korea and played for D-League teams Los Angeles, Austin and Rio Grande as well as San Antonio of the NBA. In 2012, Thomas signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv and made his EuroLeague debut before finishing the season with Los Angeles and Santa Cruz of the D-League and Golden State and Chicago in the NBA. He spent the following seasons with Los Angeles and Austin of the D-League and San Antonio, Utah and Philadelphia in the NBA. Thomas moved to China for the 2016-17 season to play for Jilin Northeast Tigers and led the Chinese League in scoring. He returned to Europe for 2017-18 to play with Khimki Moscow Region, where he spent two seasons.
