FC Bayern Munich added punch to its frontcourt with the signing of JaJuan Johnson for the coming season, the club announced Thursday. Johnson (2.08 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, where he averaged 13.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks in 18 Turkish League games last season.
Johnson played college basketball at Purdue and made his professional debut with Boston in the NBA. He also played for Fort Wayne, Canton and Idaho of the D-League before starting his European career with Gruppo Tesi Pistoia of Italy. He went on to play for Guangdong of China, Besiktas Istanbul of Turkey, Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd of Russia, Pallacanestro Cantu of Italy and then Darussafaka Istanbul of Turkey.
Johnson helped Darussafaka to win the 2018 7DAYS EuroCup title and was named to the 2017-18 All-EuroCup Second Team. Johnson spent the next season with Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar of Russia before heading back to Turkey to play for Bahcesehir. After averaging 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.1 blocks in 62 EuroCup games, Johnson will be making his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut this season.
