Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv announced Thursday that guard John DiBartolomeo will keep playing for the Israeli powerhouse until at least the end of the 2021-22 season with an option for the following campaign. DiBartolomeo (1.83 meters, 29 years old) averaged 7.8 points on 47.1% three-point shooting and 94.7% free throw accuracy in 12 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, his third with Maccabi. He has helped his current team win three consecutive Israeli League titles from 2018 to 2020, earning championship game MVP honors in 2019.
"I’m happy and excited to continue with Maccabi Tel Aviv," Dibartolomeo told the club's website. "The yellow jersey has felt like home since I got here three years ago. I’m extremely grateful and appreciative of the club and the coach for giving me this opportunity, especially after last years' injuries. I can’t wait to go back to doing what I love the most for the team and the fans."
DiBartolomeo started his professional basketball career with Palma Air Europa of the Spanish third division. He has also played for Maccabi Hunter Haifa, which he helped lead to the Israeli League final in 2017. DiBartolomeo has also been a member of the Israeli national team.
