Although many of its players have been training in the city for days or even weeks, either individually or in small groups, Wednesday marked the first time that Valencia Basket brought all of them together for the first collective practice of the 2020-21 season. That group of 14 players under the direction of head coach Jaume Ponsarnau included five newcomers: Martin Hermannsson, Klemen Prepelic, Nikola Kalinic, Derrick Williams y Jaime Pradilla.
"We have to be ready at all times to compete, and that is the plan" Coach Ponsarnau said on the occasion of the team's first practice. "We know that in this training camp anything can happen, but we are in a place where the conditions to work in are very good, including under the current circumstances. So we are going to be ready always to compete."
Valencia plans to continue working daily, with the exception of this coming Sunday, on its way to a first preseason game against Joventut Badalona on Friday, August 28. The fans in Spain's third-largest city will be delighted, too, that the team's very first Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game is at home against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on October 1, the opening night of the season!
