The continent-wide Media Day tour ahead of the 2020-21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season made its first stop in Istanbul on Tuesday. On the Asian side of the Bosphorus, it was the turn for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul's players and coaches to engage in a morning's worth of activities with an eye toward launching the new campaign on October 1.
Shooting promotional campaigns, giving interviews and posing for photos were old hat for a pair of former EuroLeague MVPs, Jan Vesely and Nando De Colo, and even more so for Fenerbahce team captain Melih Mahmutoglu, who is entering his eighth EuroLeague season.
However, it was the first such EuroLeague Media Day for their new head coach, Igor Kokoskov, who is set to make his debut in the competition early next month. It was also an opportunity to see a couple of competition veterans, Edgaras Ulanovas and Danilo Barthel, with their new teammates and wearing a different jersey from what fans have been used to.
Johnny Hamilton, Lorenzo Brown, Dyshawn Pierre and Jarell Eddie also joined the Turkish powerhouse this summer. They all enjoyed a little break from preseason training to talk about the season that is fast approaching.
