Dear Turkish Airlines EuroLeague fans, it is FabFive time! Here comes the FabFive Challenge, a game we ran in the 7DAYS EuroCup for a few years that has been brought back with a new, attractive interface and some modifications to make it even better. The way it works is simple: just choose one player from each of five scoring ranges. Your goal is to predict which player at each of the ranges will score the most points in the next round of games. Players whose teams win will have a 20% bonus added to their scoring total. There are no other restrictions. Do you want five players from the same team? Five guards? Five centers? Go right ahead!
There are millions of combinations in this game and even when it looks simple, it takes a lot of knowledge to get the right player, especially in the bottom ranges, which can make the difference.
The most important thing to remember, however, is this: keep your team up to date! Many players will move between ranges at the end of each round, empty scoring ranges subtract from your total. Be sure to update your team consistently to have a valid, five-man team in each round. Also remember that if the round has started and you have a player you want to replace, you can still do it before his team plays. For instance, if you wish to change the Real Madrid player you had chosen before his team plays late on Friday evening, you can do so prior to tip off with other player who has not started his own game yet in the same, ongoing round.
Without further ado, here comes our suggestions before Round 1:
Range 1 (0 to 3.99) – For starters, there are loads of young players at this range, as well as others who have not seen much playing time yet. We are going to recommend Rokas Jokubaitis of Zalgiris Kaunas. He was fantastic at the WE'RE BACK preseason tournament in Kaunas and should see playing time right away.
Range 2 (4 to 7.99) – FC Barcelona is without Kyle Kuric, and when a shooter is down, another one has to step up. That is what happened with Alex Abrines so far in the preseason. Abrines is hands down the best choice in this range.
Range 3 (8 to 11.99) – There are some shooting specialists in this range, some of them legendary scorers like Jaycee Carroll of Real Madrid. This time, we will go for a completely different profile: Tonye Jekiri of TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. He always starts strong and comes off a solid preseason.
Range 4 (12 to 14.99) – Things get easier in the upper ranges, of course, with a lot of well-known players. Since Anadolu Efes Istanbul has been without Shane Larkin until now, we are choosing Vasilije Micic in this range. Micic will be Efes's go-to guy and should have a good scoring night against Zenit St Petersburg.
Range 5 (15.0 or higher) – As expected, this level is full of superstars, so the logical choice is to go for the one who is the best shape. Malcolm Delaney of AX Armani Exchange Milan was considered, but we decided to pick Mike James of CSKA Moscow, who is really filling it up in preseason.
As you can see, FabFive is back, so jump in early and get ready for a fantastic season!
