Fenerbahce's newest signing is hurt, too

Four days after signing him, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul will not have new point guard Alex Perez for two weeks after he suffered a leg injury in practice on Wednesday. The injury, to his left calf, comes two days before Perez was to debut for Fenerbahce in a home game against Valencia Basket. The 27-year-old had arrived just Saturday from nearby Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, where he averaged 12.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.3 steals in over 22 minutes in seven 7DAYS EuroCup games this season, including a 33-point outburst in a road loss at UNICS Kazan and 13 assists in his team's only victory, on the road at Joventut Badalona. Perez also has some EuroLeague experience from last season, when he played seven games with Zalgiris Kaunas, averaging 3.1 points and 1.9 assists. He was brought to Fenerbahce to help in the absence of superstar guard Nando De Colo, who is also injured.
