Bayern adds experience with Gist, Seeley

Already sitting in the top four of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings, FC Bayern Munich added depth and experience to its roster on Thursday by inking power forward James Gist and shooting guard D.J. Seeley for the remainder of the season. Bayern also announced that Malcolm Thomas has left the club and playmaker T.J. Bray was sent on loan to Casademont Zaragoza as part of the deal to bring in Seeley.

Gist (2.01 meters, 34 years old) is set to play his 11th EuroLeague season after having averaged 7.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 25 games for Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade last season. Gist had spent the previous six and a half seasons and 181 games with Panathinaikos Athens, whom he joined from Unicaja Malaga in December 2012. Gist began his EuroLeague career with Partizan Belgrade in 2010 and played for Fenerbahce Istanbul the following season. Gist has taken part in 246 EuroLeague games, ranking third overall among American players, only trailing Kyle Hines (290) and Jaycee Carroll (251). He has amassed 2,188 points and ranks 13th all-time in rebounds (1,073) and blocks (145). Gist has also suited up for Biella in Italy and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Russia. He played for Team USA at the Pan American Games in 2007.

Seeley (1.93 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Zaragoza, where he averaged 13.1 points on 42.2% three-point shooting in 11 Spanish League games this season. Seeley started his career with Radnicki Kragujevac of Serbia and has also played for Delaware of the D-League, Basquet Manresa and Herbalife Gran Canaria of Spain, Besiktas Istanbul of Turkey, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv of Israel and Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania. In his only previous EuroLeague experience, Seeley averaged 7.3 points and 2.6 assists in 26 games with Maccabi in the 2016-17 season. He brings in five seasons of EuroCup experience with Radnicki, Besiktas, Gran Canaria and Rytas, averaging 9.9 points in 66 career games.
