One of the most promising players in European basketball switched powerhouses on Friday, when Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announced the arrival of versatile forward Lefteris Mantzoukas, who signed a five-year deal with his new team. Mantzoukas (2.07 meters, 17 years old) arrives from Promitheas Patras, where he averaged 6.7 points on excellent shooting percentages (66.7% 2FG, 60.0% 3FG) and 2.0 rebounds in seven 7DAYS EuroCup games this season. He showed his full potential in a game against Herbalife Gran Canaria, hitting 6-of-6 three-pointers on his way to 24 points. Mantzoukas joined Promitheas in 2017 and made his EuroCup debut in the 2019-20 campaign. He also shined in the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich, averaging 32.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and a PIR of 38.3 in four games with U18 Promitheas Patras. Mantzoukas has also been a member of the U16 and U18 Greek national teams, and is set to make his EuroLeague debut with Panathinaikos.
