CSKA announces James suspension

CSKA Moscow on Wednesday evening announced that guard Mike James, the leading scorer in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this season, has been suspended from the team.

"On January 22nd, after the end of the game with Fenerbahce, there was an incident in the team's locker room with the participation of Mike James," the club's statement said. "As a result, the club decided to suspend the player from practices and games."

The statement continued by saying that a decision is forthcoming on the player's future at the club:

"The final decision on James' future at CSKA will be taken in the coming days, and explanations will also be given regarding the situation with Mike's departure for his grandfather's funeral."

CSKA made the announcement 24 hours after having reported on its website that James had not flown with the team to play at ALBA Berlin, a game corresponding to Round 23 of the regular season on Wednesday.

James, who was named the EuroLeague's MVP of the Month for November this season, currently leads the league in scoring with 20.0 points per game and ranks second in performance index rating with 20.6 on average.
