When he entered the game against CSKA Moscow to start the second quarter on Thursday night, Olympiacos Piraeus guard Vassilis Spanoulis hit yet another major milestone in his illustrious career, becoming just the third player to appear in 350 or more Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games.
The two players who preceded Spanoulis to 350 games met each other on Thursday. Going into their game, all-time leader Paulius Jankunas of Zalgiris Kaunas had 366 games to his credit while Real Madrid center Felipe Reyes had 353.
Spanoulis finished his milestone night with 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals as Olympiacos made up all of a 25-point deficit but lost at home, 74-75.
A three-time EuroLeague champion, three-time Final Four MVP and former EuroLeague MVP, Spanoulis is already competition's all-time leader in points, with 4,412; in assists, with 1,577; and in performance index rating, with 4,133 after Thursday's game.
The list goes on, as Spanoulis is a runaway all-time leader with 9,230:41 minutes played, more than 1,000 higher than the next-best on the list. Also, no player has made more free throws in the EuroLeague history than Spanoulis with 1,121, and he is one of just two players with more than 500 three-pointers, his 513 coming behind only the retired Juan Carlos Navarro, with 623.
