TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz took a blow going into the stretch of the playoffs race with the announcement on Monday that center
Tonye Jekiri has a knee injury that will keep him out for at least six weeks. Jekiri (2.12 meters, 26 years old) suffered a partial ligament tear of the right knee in Baskonia's domestic game on Sunday. Further tests on Monday confirmed a grade 2 ligament sprain, requiring long-term treatment. Jekiri has played in all 30 EuroLeague games this season for Baskonia, averaging 6.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He is the ream's second-best rebounder. He debuted in the EuroLeague last season with TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. The injury counts Jekiri out for the remainder of the regular season, and should Baskonia make them, the playoffs, too.
