Valencia Basket, which is fighting for a spot in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs, may have to do so without one of its point guards, Martin Hermannsson, who is expected to miss some games with an injury, the club announced on Monday. Hermannsson (1.90 meters, 26 years old) suffered a muscle tear in his right calf during a weekend domestic league game against FC Barcelona and tests on Monday revealed the tear. The club's statement said that Hermannsson will miss an undetermined amount of upcoming games, including Thursday's home showdown with FC Bayern Munich. Also injured against Barcelona was center Mike Tobey, who was diagnosed with a microtear of the right hamstring muscle and is listed as doubtful to play against Bayern.
Hermannsson and Tobey (2.13 meters, 26 years old) have mostly come off Valencia's bench to average 6.9 and 9.3 points, respectively, in 29 EuroLeague games each this season. Hermannsson also averages 3.4 assists, second best on the team, while Tobey is the second-best rebounder at 4.8 per game.
