FC Barcelona, then and now

...Gasol will return to the EuroLeague for the first time in over 20 years, marking longest period between appearances of any player this century. His last EuroLeague game was a 96-84 home win over Muller Verona on December 20, 2000, in which he scored 18 points.

...Gasol was chosen to the All-EuroLeague Second Team in the 2001-02 season.

...Gasol played his last official game with Barcelona on June 21, 2001, in an 84-96 win against Real Madrid for the Spanish League title. Gasol had 22 points, 10 rebounds and a PIR of 37. He was chosen as the Finals MVP.

...One of the Gasol's teammates in his first stint with Barcelona was Sarunas Jasikevicius - who is now coaching him!

NBA years

...Gasol was the first European to be chosen as NBA Rookie of the Year, in 2002. Luka Doncic, in 2019, became the second European winner of the award.

...Gasol was traded for his own brother. The deal sent Pau to the Los Angeles Lakers, who traded rights to sign his brother Marc to Memphis. Both Marc and Pau ended up playing for Memphis and Los Angeles Lakers, but never together.

...Gasol was the first Spanish player to win the NBA title, with the Los Angeles Lakers on 2009, and repeated the following season. His brother Marc and Serge Ibaka later lifted the NBA trophy with Toronto in 2019.

...Gasol led Spain to its first World Cup title in 2006 and was chosen the tournament MVP despite missing the championship game against Greece due to injury.
