Panathinaikos OPAP Athens boosted its presence around the basket by inking Vassilis Kavvadas to a two-year contract with the second season having an option. Kavvadas (2.04 meters, 30 years old) arrives at Panathinaikos after playing last season with Iraklis, where he averaged 12.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in the Greek League. The center will be playing in the EuroLeague for a third season after collecting a total of 22 points and 22 rebounds in 16 games over the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons with Olympiacos Piraeus. Before that, Kavvadas played two seasons in the 7DAYS EuroCup with Panionios, the club for which he made his professional debut. He was loaned from Olympiacos to Arkadikos for the 2015-16 season and then played one season with Aris Thessaloniki. He moved to AEK Athens in 2017 and was with the club for two years. Kavvadas returned to Iraklis in 2019 where he re-established his market value. He advanced to the Greece national team and played at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where the Greeks failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
