Anadolu Efes Istanbul grabbed its first win in the 2021 Gloria Cup tournament by downing Tofas Bursa 90-84 in Antalya, Turkey on Thursday. Rodrigue Beaubois led the winners with 18 points. Filip Petrusev added 15, Chris Singleton had 13, reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic got 12 while Adrien Moerman and Bryant Dunston each contributed 11 for Efes. Bryant Dunston, Tolga Gecim and Singleton gave Efes a double-digit lead, 17-7, early in the game. Tofas got within 24-16 after 10 minutes and took the lead, 41-45 at halftime. Tofas boosted its margin to 62-71 at the end of the third quarter and then again to 73-82 with under 6 minutes left. Micic and Singleton combined for 11 points in a 14-0 run that put Efes back in charge, 86-82, in the next-to-last minute. Micic made free throws and sealed the outcome with a driving layup.

CSKA Moscow bounced back from a recent pre-season loss by topping Zenit St Petersburg 75-64 in the Neofytos Chandriotis Tournament in Nicosia, Cyprus. Will Clyburn led the winners with 18 points. Joel Bolomboy added 10 for CSKA. Jordan Loyd and Mindaugas Kuzminskas led Zenit with 10 points apiece. Clyburn and Marius Grigonis allowed CSKA to get a 13-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Billy Baron tied the game with a three-pointer, 13-13, but Clyburn and Alexey Shved fueled a 13-0 run that made it a double-digit game, 26-13. CSKA boosted its margin to 39-24 at halftime and then again to 50-29 on a three-point shot by Johannes Voigtmann. Alex Poythress, Loyd and Andrey Zubkov brought Zenit closer, 55-46, after 30 minutes. CSKA opened the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run that Bolomboy capped with a jumper, good for a 64-46 CSKA lead. Zenit kept trying but CSKA has cruised to a well-deserved win.
