Olympiacos Piraeus reached an agreement with versatile forward Sasha Vezenkov on a contract extension for two more years, until the end of the 2023-24 season, the club announced Thursday. Vezenkov (2.06 meters, 26 years old) averaged 11.5 points on 43.0% three-point shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 14.8 PIR in 31 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. He boosted those numbers to 19.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and a PIR of 24.0 in the Reds' last seven games of the 2020-21 EuroLeague campaign.
Vezenkov was born in Cyprus to a Bulgarian family and began his professional career in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki, where he played four seasons before joining FC Barcelona. He played three years for Barcelona after which he signed with Olympiacos. Vezenkov was the Greek League MVP and scoring champ (16.8 ppg.) for the 2014-15 season. In 150 EuroLeague career games with Barcelona and Olympiacos, Vezenkov has amassed 978 points and 437 rebounds. He helped Barcelona win the Spanish Copa del Rey title in 2018. Vezenkov is also a member of the Bulgarian national team.
