Monaco brings Obradovic back to its bench

Hours after announcing the departure of Zvezdan Mitrovic from the bench, AS Monaco has brought back another of its former head coaches, Sasa Obradovic, to continue the club's first season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Obradovic had led Roca Team, as Monaco is nicknamed, during the 2019-20 7DAYS EuroCup, compiling an impressive 10-6 record to reach the quarterfinals before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Monaco, Obradovic went to his original team as a player, Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, but was let go with a 5-11 EuroLeague record in the middle of last season. Zvezda was his third EuroLeague team after previous stings with RheinEnergie Cologne, ALBA Berlin. Obradovic's career record as a coach in the EuroLeague is 26-42.

He has also coached six teams including Monaco in the EuroCup to a 84-39 overall record. He was named the 2017-18 Coach of the Year in the EuroCup after leading Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar to a 20-0 record before losing 0-2 in the finals to Darussafaka Istanbul.

Domestically, Obradovic has won four national titles in German with ALBA and RheinEnergie and another in Ukraine with BC Donetsk.

Monaco currently owns a 5-9 record and sits 14th in the EuroLeague standings after losing its last five games in a row.
