David Logan nailed 6 three-pointers and Alba Berlin shot 12-for-17 from behind the arc, cruising to 65-86 away win against the German rival Telekom Baskets Bonn in Group D clash on Tuesday. Berliners led from start to finish, opened up a double-digit lead before the end of the first quarter, and never looked back with margin reaching as many as 34 points in the third quarter. Logan finished with 20 points, Akeem Vargas and Vojdan Stojanovski netted 13 apiece, Leon Radosevic scored 12, and Levon Kendall 10 points in victory. Jamel McLean and Benas Veikalas each had 14 for the hosts..

Alba Berlin took control from the get-go, and opened a double-digit lead in the first quarter. Logan hit a triple, as him and Stojanovski each contributed with 5 points in a 2-10 spurt at the end of the first quarter. It was 15-25 after 10 minutes, and the hosts held on early in the second with a three-pointer from Ryan Brooks and baskets from Jared Jordan. But Vargas nailed back-to-back shots behind the arc, and Logan hit from long range for 22-37. Margin continued to grow with 6 straight points from Kendall, and Logan’s triple made it 28-50 at halftime. If there was any hope for the hosts to come back, back-to-back threes from Logan and Cliff Hammonds at the start of the third quarter shattered it, extending the lead to 30-58. Sixth three-pointer from Logan, and one from Stojanovski, helped make it largest margin of the night, 37-71 late in the third. Berlin cruised after that, and only a late 10-0 run during which Veikalas scored all points for Telekom Baskets, cut it to 59-80, but the game was long decided.

Head Coaches

FISCHER, MATHIAS
Telekom Baskets Bonn
"Congratulations to Berlin for a great game. This is a team that is strong inside and showed its outside shooting capabilities tonight. Every time we tried to take away their three-pointers, Berlin punished us near the basket. We have to learn from that loss as quick as possible."
OBRADOVIC, SASA
Alba Berlin
"My team played impressive tonight. First, we showed good intensity on the defensive end, then we were able to feed off of it on offense, finding our open shooters. That is why they are with ALBA Berlin, because we know the y can shoot. Going against Bonn, a well-coached team, you cannot allow them to have any space to find their comfort-zone. This victory gives us a lot of confidence for the future. One thing we may not forget is that we still have to involve our big men, although today our perimeter players had a dominant performance."

Players

MCLEAN, JAMEL
Telekom Baskets Bonn
"Tonight Berlin shot the lights out. We tried to attack them on the inside and get their bigs into foul trouble, which worked out well at times. Today we did not have our best game, so it will be easy to forget what happened and focus on our next game."
KING, ALEX
Alba Berlin
"This was a great game for us. We knew Bonn is a great team and that we had to go out, ready to play right from the start. This is the mindset we have to have against any opponent, if it‘s in international or national play. This total effort from three point land was impressive, but it‘s definitely not usual."
