In a winner-takes-all showdown in Group B, Cajasol Seville controlled the game from start to finish, defeating previously unbeaten Cibona Zagreb 56-77 and advancing to the Sunday’s title game. Cajasol needed a victory of 3 points or more to secure the first place in the standings, and it did so in a comfortable fashion. Maxim Salash led the winners with 22 points plus 9 rebounds. Diego Gallardo scored 14, Adrian Martinez amassed 12 points plus 15 rebounds, while Carlos Hidalgo added 10 in victory. Luka Obrvan netted 13 for Cibona, Bruno Skokna had 12, and Toni Kumanović 11 points in defeat. Cajasol pulled away early. Salash and Hidalgo hit from downtown for 5-14 lead, and with a triple from Tomeu Rigo, Cajasol reached its first double-digit lead, 11-21. Leon Tomic and Kumanovic got Cibona within six, but Gallardo hit a pair of triples and a jumper for 21-36, then added another triple to help Cajasol to 25-43 halftime lead. After the break, Salash and Karl Robin Jurjens extended it to 27-56 midway through the third quarter. Obrvan and Skokna helped Cibona answer with an 11-0 run, cutting it to 38-58 after 30 minutes. Tomic scored 5 points early in the fourth, but Gallardo hit his fourth three-pointer and Hidalgo made his second from downtown for 46-66. Before game’s end, Marko Cuze scored a basket-plus foul for Cibona, but game was well in hand of Cajasol which is heading to Sunday’s finals.
