U18 Partizan NIS Belgrade took care of business and finished Group B of the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Belgrade in undefeated fashion with a 99-71 victory over U18 Cibona Zagreb. Partizan came into the game having already secured its spot in the Belgrade final against city rival U18 Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. But Dusan Tanaskovic, Marko Brekic and Andrija Nesovic all scored 13 points for Partizan and Bogdan Rutesic added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Cibona finished Group B play with an 0-3 record despite 13 points each from Hrvoje Majcunic, Luka Cvitanovic and Roko Skarica. Cibona will take on U18 Spars Ziraat Bank Sarajevo for seventh place.

Tanaskovic picked up 5 points as Partizan built an 8-4 lead early on. Danko Brankovic hit two baskets at the other end and Cibona was up 8-11. Brekic followed with a three-pointer and his next score led to five straight lead changes and Partizan was up 22-18 after 10 minutes. Cvitanovic’s three-pointer cut the gap to three points - 24-21- only to see Partizan push the cushion out to 10 points - 31-21. Cibona temporarily pulled to within four points at 36-32, but 8 straight points from Partizan made it 44-32. And the score was 44-36 at intermission.

Partizan was looking for a knockout punch right away in the third quarter with Tanaskovic scoring 6 points in a 12-3 run to make it 56-39. Cibona tried to get back into it with Danijel Sedlo, Luksa Buljevic and Majunic all hitting three-balls and deficit was down to 58-48. Partizan answered with an 11-2 surge and was up 69-50 after three quarters. After Bogdan Trifunovic’s basket increased the lead to 74-50, Cibona tried one final surge to get back into the game with 4-14 run to make it 78-64 with four minutes left. Nesovic however scored 5 straight points for Partizan and Cibona would not get any closer the rest of the game.
