Valencia gets first-ever ANGT win

U18 Valencia Basket recorded its first Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament win by downing U18 Rytas Vilnius 91-102 in Group B at Polideportivo Mendizorrotza on Saturday. Valencia placed third in Group B with a 1-2 record and Rytas fourth at 0-3. Alejandro Ortega led a balanced Valencia offense with 14 points. Alonso Faure and Alejandro Ruiz each had 13, Millan Jimenez added 12 while Marc Garcia and Alfonso Jose Ribera scored 11 apiece for Valencia, which dished 30 assists. Azoulas Tubelis led Rytas with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Augustas Marciulionis added 21 points and Adas Simonis had 10 for Rytas, which led 22-18 late in the first quarter. Valencia bounced back to take a 26-32 margin after 10 minutes and extended it to 44-61 at halftime behind solid performances from Ruiz and Ortega. Nothing changed after that, as Valencia kept a safe margin from that moment until the final buzzer.
