Madrid blast ALBA to set up date with Maccabi

U18 Real Madrid will get the chance to defend its status as Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich winner after beating U18 ALBA Berlin 60-111 to remain undefeated and win Group B and reach a date in the first-place game against U18 Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv. Amar Sylla collected 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks to pace six Madrid players in double figures. Ruben Lopez de la Torre scored 15 points, Mario Nakic, Golden Dike and Boris Tisma all 14, and Usman Garuba had 11 points to go with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. ALBA dropped to 1-2 despite Ben Lingk scoring 15 points and will take on U18 FC Bayern Munich for fifth place.

Dike picked up 6 points early on as Madrid jumped ahead 4-12. Nolan Adekunle scored 5 points at the other end as ALBA answered with a 13-5 spurt to even the game 17-17. Sylla came off the bench for 7 points in helping Madrid move ahead 19-26 and the Spanish side led 24-28 after 10 minutes. Madrid kept ALBA scoreless for the first 3 minutes of the second quarter and a 0-9 run made it 24-37. ALBA was still within 28-41 before Nakic and Dan Duscak hit from the outside and pushed Madrid up 28-49. Nakic added a three-point play and it was 37-58 at the break. ALBA went nearly 4 minutes without a basket to start the second half and Madrid increased the lead to 37-66. Evans Rapieque and Friedrich Feldrappe both hit three-pointers to keep ALBA within 50-70. But Madrid closed the third quarter on a 5-13 surge to lead 55-83 going into the final 10 minutes. Madrid went on a 0-17 run to start the fourth quarter as ALBA did not score in more than 5 minutes to fall behind 55-100. Madrid in total allowed just 5 points in the fourth quarter and the 111 points ties for the fifth-most in a single game in ANGT history.
