Valencia Basket Club hit its Eurocup club record 19 three-pointers, thrashing Paris Levallois 98-52 on Tuesday. The former two-time champion improves to 4-2 in Group C, while Paris dropped to 1-5. Valencia hit 19 triples on 35 attempts, coming one shy of Eurocup all-time record 20 triples, set by Unics Kazan in 2009-10. The hosts led from start to finish, opening the game with a 10-0 run, and they never looked back. Margin was extended to 45-24 at halftime, and the hosts kept their foot on the gas pedal for 40 minutes. Valencia had seven players making a three-point shot, and six scorers in double figures, as Oleksiy Pecherov scored 17 points in 15 minutes, while Justin Doellman and Romain Sato had 16 apiece in victory. Maleye Ndoye had 17 points, and Daniel Ewing added 13 for the visitors.
Van Rossom and Doellman nailed triples at the beginning of the game for 10-0 lead. Nicolas Lang got the visitors going, and Ewing hit a triple for 14-9, but Valencia pulled away quickly. A triple from Oliver Lafayette sparked a run, and Pecherov nailed a last-second three-pointer for 26-11 after 10 minutes. Elton Brown scored couple of baskets for Paris at the start of the second, but seven different scorers on 8 field goals made during the quarter had the hosts up 45-24 at halftime. Sato opened the second half with a basket-plus-foul before Doellman and Rafa Martinez added triples, and Sato capped the run with a three-pointer of his own for 59-27 after less than 4 minutes gone in the third quarter. Ewing scored baskets for the visitors, but consecutive triples from Lafayette, Sato and Martinez opened 74-37 lead late in the third. The hosts cruised in the final 10 minutes, with more long range shots from Van Rossom and Pecherov, while Ndoye scored a jumper and a triple for the visitors. Before game’s end, Van Rossom and Ribas each hit another three-pointer, getting the count to 19 triples for the night, closing out the game in style.
