Borisa Simanic - U18 Crvena Zvezda - ANGT Belgrade 2016 - JT15

U18 Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade moved one victory from its sixth straight ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament - Marko Ivkovic Belgrade title by beating city rival U18 Partizan Belgrade 107-69 to reach the final. Borisa Simanic collected 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and Stefan Djordevic also had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds for Zvezda, which will take on the winner of the second semifinal between U18 Cedevita Zagreb and U18 Spars Sarajevo. Aleksa Radanov had 18 points and 7 assists for the winners while Stefan Momirov scored 15 points and Petar Rebic and Ivan Corovic both had 11 points. Partizan, which will play the loser of the second semi for third place, was paced by Boris Latinovic with 16 points while Milos Glisic had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Srecko Gasic, Tadija Tadic and Stefan Advic all chipped in 11 points in the defeat.

Dordevic opened the scoring for Zvezda with Glisic hitting Partizan’s first basket and Gasic’s free throw gave Partizan its first lead 2-3. Simanic put Zvezda back ahead and the defending champs began to run away with it with a 9-0 spurt. Rebic and Simanic both knocked down three-balls as the advantage grew to double digits 17-7. Latinovic answered with a triple for Partizan but Radanov punched right back from long range and completed a three-point play for a 23-10 cushion, which was 25-12 after 10 minutes. Corovic got the second quarter going and Dordevic’s three-point play increased the margin to 32-14. Partizan failed to produce consistently on offense and the Zvezda attack just kept going with Simanic nailing a triple to start a 9-0 surge for a 43-18 advantage. Adzic stopped the run with a three-ball and Tadic’s free throws trimmed the gap to 20 points. But back-to-back three-point plays from Radanov had Zvezda’s lead at 51-25. Aleksa Uskokovic and Momirov both added three-pointers in the final 35 seconds of the first half for a 57-29 lead at intermission.

Gilisic’s put-back started the second half but Corovic answered right back with a three-point play. Partizan began to score a bit more consistently on offense with Glisic and Latinovic converting to make it 64-37. But Partizan couldn’t come up with the defensive stops as Radanov completed a three-point play to lead 68-37. Latinovic scored 7 straight points for Partizan to trim the gap to 74-50. But Simanic and Rebic hit from long range at the end of the third quarter and the gap was 84-52 after 30 minutes. Momirov’s basket opened the fourth quarter and despite scores from Glisic and Gasic Partizan couldn’t really cut into the deficit and Corovic tallied to make it 91-56. Marko Cosic’s 3 points made it a 30-point game but Momirov hit back with a three-point play and three-ball for a 97-63 cushion and Partizan did not get closer than 30 points the rest of the way.
