Khimki remained undefeated atop Group D after holding on for an 77-80 road victory against SLUC Nancy as Vladimir Veremeenko's foul shots in the final minute secured the win. Khimki improved to 6-0 thanks to 18 points from Kelly McCarty and 11 points from Veremeenko. Five other Khimki players scored at least eight points. Nancy had its three-game winning streak stopped, dropping to 3-3 despite 20 points and 9 rebounds by Cyril Julian. Victor Samnick scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter while also grabbing 8 rebounds in a losing effort. Pape Philippe Amagou added 11 points and Ricardo Greer had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Khimki next hosts Azovmash Mariupol while Nancy looks to rebound at Pamesa Valencia. McCarty and Dan Ewing helped Khimki to get a 17-21 edge after 10 minutes while a late 0-7 run allowed the guests to boost their margin to 38-47 at halftime. An 11-0 run allowed Nancy to get back in the game, but the hosts failed to regain the lead. Samnick stepped up for Nancy to get the hosts as close as 77-78 already in the final seconds. Veremeenko made free throws but Michael Bauer and Jeff Greer missed potential game-tying three-point shots in the game's final possessions.

Amagou started the scoring for the hosts and Ricardo Greer's three-ball made it 5-0 early. Veremeenko evened the game at 7-7 on a three-pointer and Khimki stayed even with Nancy thanks to long-balls by Mike Wilkinson and Veremeenko for a 17-17 score line. Back-to-back baskets by McCarty and Ewing gave the guests a 17-21 advantage, but Julian put Nancy back ahead 24-23 after one period. Teemu Rannikko's three-ball started the second quarter for Khimki and Dennis Harrison trimmed the margin to 27-28 with two foul shots. Khimki grabbed a six-point lead -27-33 - on McCarty's three-ball and another McCarty basket opened a 31-40 gap. Nancy scored the next seven points but McCarty started a 0-7 run to close the half with Khimki ahead 38-47. Rannikko's long-ball opened the second half and a 12-point lead for the guests. Julian however answered with a three-point play to start an 11-0 run as Jeff Greer's basket cut the deficit to 49-50. But Wilkinson knocked down a three-ball to keep the hosts behind. Amagou's basket made it 54-56 only to see Nikita Shabalkin and Vitaly Fridzon knock down triples in a 3-12 run which re-established a 57-68 advantage. Amagou's score cut the margin to 59-68 after three-periods. Pat Burke started the scoring for Khimki in the fourth and his basket made it 61-72. But Nancy began a final comeback as Samnick scored four points and Ricardo Greer's three-ball cut the gap to 70-73. McCarty answered with a triple of his own but Nancy would not go away. Samnick scored the next seven points to make it a 77-78 game with just more than a minute left. Veremeenko made two foul shots to push the lead to 77-80. And Bauer and Jeff Greer both missed three-pointers in the final seconds in trying to even the game.

Head Coaches

MONSCHAU, JEAN-LUC
SLUC Nancy
"First of all, congratulation to Khimki. They showed a great basketball level to Nancy fans. It was a tough game. Khimki is a very good team. We missed too many three-point shots but we defend well during the second half because Khimki scored only 33 points. It's not a bad result for the rest of the regular season, so now we will focus on the next games."
KEMZURA, KESTUTIS
Khimki
"It was a very important game us after the defeat against CSKA this weekend. Nancy is a good team, very athletic with talented players. But we defended pretty well. During the second quarter, Nancy came back but we resisted and the last quarter, I would say it was critical. Because the referees called some offense fouls not really obvious."

Players

JULIAN, CYRIL
SLUC Nancy
"It was a good game. We let them too much space during the first half but after the halftime we defended better. Khimki scored less fastbreaks but it was not enough against this kind of team."
BURKE, PAT
Khimki
"Nancy played very hard and it's a really strong team. I think it was a very good game with a lot of passion. It's an important victory for us after the bad loss against CSKA this weekend. The president said we had to be ready mentally to win on the road at Nancy."
