Spars Sarajevo captured third place at the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT in Rome by pulling away from Brose Baskets Bamberg in the second half for a 48-78 victory. Edin Atic collected 21 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks while Amar Gegic had 15 points, five assists and five steals, and Fahrudin Manjgafic added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Spars. Sarajevo used an 0-18 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to decide the game for good. Tibor Taras paced Bamberg with 19 points while Leon Kratzer picked up 12 points, 16 rebounds and three steals and Moritz Sanders scored 10 points.

There were five lead chances in the first two minutes and Taras scored seven points as Bamberg led 13-9. Emir Ahmedic and Marc Kunz swapped three-pointers and Brose was up 16-15. But Spars went on a 1-9 run in the final two minutes of the first quarter to lead 17-24 after 10 minutes. Atif Durak, Gegic and Atic all nailed three balls as the Spars’ lead continued to grow throughout the second quarter to 22-37. Nunz’s three-ball ended a 7-0 Bamberg run to cut the gap to 29-37 and Spars was up 33-39 at intermission.

Bamberg tried to get closer and trailed 36-42 and 41-48 but Sarajevo scored the final nine points in the third quarter over a three minute stretch to extend the lead to 41-57. The run continued in the fourth quarter as Spars opened the final period on a 0-9 surge to move ahead 41-66. Bamberg finally scored after more than three minutes but Brose was already beaten and Spars used an 0-8 run to open a 47-76 advantage late and the final score made it a 30-point win.
