U18 CSKA Moscow grabbed third place at the EuroLeague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Kaunas with an 80-102 victory over U18 Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius. Aleksandr Ershov poured in 37 points - which ranks tied for sixth all-time for a single game - to go with 5 rebounds and 5 assists for a Index Ranking of 42. CSKA also got 24 points and 8 assists from Yuri Umrikhin in rebounding from its previous loss to U18 Zalgiris Kaunas. Lietuvos Rytas was hoping to bounce back from its defeat at the hands of U18 Fenerbahce Istanbul but 24 points and 11 rebounds from Yauhen Massalski were not enough for Rytas, which finishes fourth.

Massalski picked up six points as Lietuvos Rytas led 9-8 early on. Ershov and Dmitrii Khaldeev combined for 13 points in a 4-18 CSKA run for a 13-26 lead. And the advantage was 17-29 after 10 minutes. Ershov knocked down two three-pointers early in the second quarter as CSKA was still up 28-39. Massalski continued his superb game with 8 points as Lietuvos Rytas cut the gap to 44-46. Khaldeev followed with 4 points at the other end to keep CSKA ahead 47-51. And the lead was 49-51 at the break. Massalski added two more baskets and a Domantas Vily triple made it 59-55. But Ershov’s big dunk finished a 4-13 spurt as CSKA was up 63-68. And Alexander Khomenko and Umrikhin each hit triples to put the Russian side up 70-77 after three quarters. Paulius Poska’s jumper had Lietuvos Rytas as close as 75-79 but the Lithuanian team went scoreless for the next 4:35 minutes and CSKA put the game away for good with a 0-18 run with 10 points coming from Ershov and Khomenko for a 75-95 lead. Ershov picked up his 37th point in completing a three-point play for a 79-100 lead with 3:15 minutes left. And the Russian coach pulled Ershov with 1:15 minutes remaining. The all-time single game scoring record is held by Dragan Bender, who scored 43 points for U18 Maccabi Tel Aviv against U18 Virtus Bologna on December 29, 2014 at the ANGT Rome.
