Joventut brushes aside Nanterre for third place

U18 Joventut Badalona secured third place at the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Kaunas as it rolled to a 52-107 victory over U18 Nanterre 92. Adria Domenech paced the 2013 continental champion with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks for a performance index rating of 40. Yannick Kraag added 23 points and Miguel Allen scored 22 for the winners. Victor Wembanyama recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks as the leading scorer for Nanterre, which won two games in its first appearance in the competition. Ethan Annerose chipped in 10 points.

Domenech scored the first 9 points of the game and Joventut led 0-11 before Nanterre finally got on the scoreboard with free throws from Marc-Antoine Loemba 6 minutes into the game. Kraag nailed a pair of three-pointers to make it 4-18 and the lead was as high as 15 points with the score 13-26 after 10 minutes. Joventut continued the push in the second quarter with Domenech and Allen combining for 11 points in a 0-13 run for a 16-41 cushion. Kraag added 6 points and the Spanish side led 26-53 at the break. Joventut did not give Nanterre any chance for a comeback as Domenech tallied 5 points and Marc Figueras nailed 2 three-pointers in a 2-17 run to move ahead 32-73. The lead stood at 42-81 after 30 minutes. Joventut had a 2-8 start to the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 44-90 and Nanterre did not get closer than 44 points the rest of the way.
