Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem significantly boosted its Last 32 hopes by routing Igokea Aleksandrovac 85-71 in the Israeli capital. Jerusalem raised its record to 4-3 in Group E to stay in third place and also earned the potential head-to-head tiebreak advantage with Igokea, who dropped to now 2-5. Ronald Dupree tallied 22 points and 6 rebounds for Hapoel, Yotam Halperin scored 14, Artiom Parakhouski amassed 13 points and 12 rebounds, Lior Eliyahu chipped in 12 points and 6 assists and Josh Duncan scored 11. Branko Jorovic netted 15 and pulled down 8 boards for Aleksandrovac, Sergerio Gipson posted 13, Boris Bakic 11 and Sinisa Stemberger 10.

A 9-0 run by the home team and capped by a three-point-play completed by big man Parakhouksi gave a double digit cushion to Hapoel, 17-7, early in the game. Stemberger from downtown cut the margin to 19-14, before a mid-range jumper by Halperin inscribed 27-16 on the scoreboard after 10 minutes. Duncan ignited Hapoel by posting 6 of 10 unanswered points to reach a 39-18 cushion with six minutes left to halftime. Dusko Bunic’s jumper kept Igokea in the picture at 41-30, but 5 Halperin points extended again the difference and Parakhouski from the foul line made it 48-33 at halftime. Nemanja Gordic jumper cut the difference to 48-38 after intermission. A Derwin Kitchen three-pointer extended it to 59-44, while Dupree gave the largest margin so far to the home team, 63-44. Jorovic and Gispon tried to push the guests, but Kitchen from the foul line fixed the score at 67-49 at the end of the third quarter. Gispon hit a jumper from mid-range to stay within 67-54, but a dunk by Dupree and back-to-back short jumpers from Eliyahu gave Hapoel a 77-59 margin with four minutes left, enough to manage the game till the final buzzer.

Head Coaches

GREENBERG, BRAD
Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem
" I think that we played well. We played hard from the beginning and we managed to hold on to the lead for the whole game. We led by as many as 21 points; we scored at high percentages, especially compared to our last few games. We had five players with great games and 20 assists is outstanding... Art had a nice double-double tonight. We controlled the boards; Kitchen took 9 rebounds! Next week we have two very tough games against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Khimki Moscow… We are improving as the season goes on. We work hard every day in practice. We’re ready for every challenge. "
LATINCIC, MILUTIN
Igokea Aleksandrovac
"I congratulate Jerusalem for a deserved victory. This game decided our fate. We tried to stay close at the beginning of the game, but we were unsuccessful. Hapoel was able to force a fast-paced game; we tried to make it a half-court game, but could not. We were able to take a bit out of their lead, but in the end Hapoel’s fast and aggressive style made the difference. Their offensive rebounding – and rebounding in general – gave them a meaningful advantage. The second half was better for us. Players that generally get fewer minutes came in and were able to take advantage of the opportunity that they received. "

Players

DUPREE, RONALD
Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem
" We proved again that we can play as a team. We were aggressive from the first minute and we led all game by a significant margin. A lot of players were excellent and we will need everyone to play well to succeed going forward. "
