U18 Real Madrid reached the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Finals for the fourth straight season as it fought past U18 Unicaja Malaga 60-72 in the ANGT Qualifying Tournament Coin Final. The 2015 continental champion went through the first-ever Coin event undefeated with the final being the biggest fight. Dino Radoncic guided Madrid to the title with a masterful performance of 37 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Melwin Pantzar came off the bench for 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists for the winners. Unicaja got 13 points from Morgan Stilma but they were not enough. Madrid will join earlier qualifying tournament winners U18 FC Barcelona Lassa and U18 Zalgiris Kaunas in an eight-team field that will play for the continental title in mid-May during the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in Istanbul, Turkey.

Madrid went through Radoncic early on and he converted a three-point play and helped set up a Sani Campara three-ball in going up 3-8 in the opening minutes. The intensity was high and Paco Salvador’s putback of an offensive rebound had Madrid up 6-12. Madrid struggled handling the ball with a series of turnovers while Ignacio Rosa had a three-point play off an offensive rebound and both Jesus Carralero and Luis Garcia hit driving layups for a 15-12 Unicaja lead - which was 15-14 after 10 minutes. Two Carralero jumpers had the home side up 21-17 only to see Radoncic counter with a four-point play to even the game 21-21. Jesus Castillo came up with a big three-pointer and Stilma put back an offensive rebound as Unicaja pulled ahead 30-24. Radoncic was not ready to let his team lose with six straight points to even the game again at 30-30. And the home side was up 32-30 on a Castillo layup. Madrid went at it right away after the break with a steal and break away dunk from Acoydan McCarthy to open the second half and Radoncic added five points in building a 32-39 lead. Unicaja got a big defensive stop and Garcia hit a jumper in the lane for the team’s opening score at the 5:20 minute mark. Pantzar answered with a three-pointer for Madrid but Stilma stepped outside for a three-ball and it was 39-44. Radoncic was on target again from long range and Madrid was ahead 43-51 after 30 minutes. Radoncic continued to come up with big shots when his team needed them with a jumper and driving layup as the lead was 49-57. Unicaja scored the next five points but Radoncic nailed another triple to silence the crowd for a 54-60 lead. He added another three-pointer with 1:24 minutes to play for a 58-67 lead - serving as the final dagger.
