Pamesa Valencia relinquished a 10-point fourth quarter lead but held on to barely beat SLUC Nancy 93-92 and thus qualify for the elimination rounds. Pamesa improved to 6-1 in Group D, tying Khimki in first place. Pamesa's victory also had the side effect of qualifying Khimki, too, even though the Russian club lost its first game at home on Tuesday to Azovmash Mariupol. Nancy, now 3-4, will fight with Azovmash for the one sure Group D qualification berth left. Shammond Williams had 26 points and 11 assists while reserve Albert Miralles scored 13 points in playing a huge role down the stretch for Pamesa Dejan Milojevic added 15 points and Victor Claver chipped in 12 off the bench. Valencia travels to Anwil Wloclawek next week. Ricardo Greer collected 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Nancy, while Michael Bauer had 21 points and 7 rebounds. Zabian Dowdell added 17 points and 6 assists while Victor Samnick had 14 points in a losing effort. Nancy trailed 79-69 early in the fourth quarter but grabbed the lead at 88-89 on Jeff Greer's alley-oop dunk. But Nancy turned the ball over in the final minute, missed a free throw and wasn't able to foul Williams in the waning seconds. Nancy next plays at Azovmash Mariupol next week.

Samnick opened the scoring for the guests with a free throw. Ruben Douglas and Mindaugas Timinkas both made baskets to open a 6-3 lead. Ricardo Greer scored twice in pulling to within 8-7, but Milojevic's three-pointer made it 11-7. Nancy answered with another score by Ricardo Greer, Dowdell's three-point play and Bauer's basket to lead 13-14. And Nancy jumped ahead 17-25 after a three-point play by Ricardo Greer and three-balls by Dowdell and Jeff Greer. Pamesa fought back as Claver and Miralles both hit from downtown to close within 25-29 after one period. Miralles and Claver both scored to even the game at 29-29. And three-pointers by Williams and Alex Urtasun made it 37-30. Pape Philippe Amagou answered with a long-ball of his own but Williams went downtown again for a 40-33 lead. Bauer and Urtasun swapped treys before Amadou Aboubacar's free throw brought Nancy to 49-43 at the break. Samnick and Jeff Greer scored to start the second half. Timinkas and Miralles hit to push the lead back to 53-47. But Bauer knocked down two three-pointers as Nancy grabbed the lead 56-57. The lead switched hands until Williams' three-ball and Milojevic's basket made it 69-63. And Claver's triple from the corner gave Valencia a 72-67 lead going into the fourth. Ruben Garces scored first in the final period and Williams' three-point play made Pamesa's cushion 79-69. But Nancy was not dead just yet. Ricardo Greer and Dowdell scored and Bauer knocked down a three-pointer and assisted on a Dowdell lay-up to make it a 79-78 game. Williams answered with a three-ball to beat the shot clock only to see Bauer drain a corner trey. Then Ricardo Greer evened things at 83-83 on a driving lay-up. Williams knocked down a long-ball coming off a screen only to be matched by Ricardo Greer's three-point play for 86-86. After Miralles made two foul shots, Dowdell went just one-of-two for an 88-87 score. Bauer blocked Williams' shot and led to an alley-oop dunk by Jeff Greer and an 88-89 Nancy lead with 1:10 left. Williams made two free throws then Miralles stole a ball and dunked for a 92-89 lead. Samnick was fouled after rebounding Dowdell's three-pointer and made just one-of-two with 13.5 seconds left and a 92-90 score. After Albert Oliver hit just one foul shot, Dowdell made 2-of-2 from the line to make it 93-92 with 6.1 seconds left. Pamesa inbounded the ball but Nancy wasn't able to foul Williams and the game ended.

Head Coaches

KATSIKARIS, FOTIS
Pamesa Valencia
"I'm very happy with this victory, but only with the result. We didn't play well and we had a lack of concentration from the start. We should be concentrated because we knew Nancy's style of game. The truth is that we were lucky today and this must be a lesson for us."
MONSCHAU, JEAN-LUC
SLUC Nancy
"I hope that everybody enjoyed this game because it has been a very good match. We had a lack of luck in the last minutes, although Julian didn't play. Pamesa has to thank a very important player, the real MVP of the game, Shammond Williams, who has won the match."

Players

URTASUN, ALEX
Pamesa Valencia
"It was a very tough game. It was important to get another victory at home and we did it. We had to suffer every minute of this game, especially in the last quarter but we were able to play smart and win. I tried to help the team after my injury and I am very happy because I think we did a good work."
GREER, JEFF
SLUC Nancy
"It was a shame because we made a good start, trying to make our game, and that is what we had to do. But unfortunately we couldn't win although we had options at the end. This was an Euroleague level game. Pamesa is one of the best teams of this competition, and they are playing in a high level"
