Panionios Athens escaped from Svyturio Arena with a 78-86 road win over Neptunas Klaipeda to raise its record to 5-3 in Group H. Neptunas, at 3-5, is now tied with Spartak St. Petersburg for fourth place. Marc Carter had an outstanding performance to lead the winners by scoring 29 points on 5-of-6 shooting from downtown in addition to 4 rebounds and 7 assists for an index rating of 35, Erick McCollum bagged 20 with 5 rebounds and 8 assists with an index rating of 29, Landon Milbourne scored 14 and Uros Duvniak 12. Neptunas got 19 points from Justus Sinica and 16 from Martynas Mazeika, while Simas Galdikas posted 11 and Vytautas Sarakauskas 10.

Carter, from long distance, and Gaios Skordilis, form mid-range, gave an early 6-14 margin to Panionios. Mazeika pushed Neptunas off the screens to 10-14, but free throws by Ioannis Athanasoulas gave a first comfortable 12-21 margin to the visitors. Kevin Langford split free throws before Andrew smith fixed the scoreboard at 17-25 after 10 minutes. He stopped a three-minute scoreless stretch that opened the second quarter before a Mazeika jumper cut the margin to 21-25. Then Duvniak from mid-range and the foul line pushed Panionios as far ahead as 22-31. Sarakauskas from beyond the arc closed the gap to 30-33, but 6 points in a row by Carter and a two-pointer by Alexandros Kyritsis gave a 33-41 margin to the visitors at halftime. Landon Milbourne jumper gave a double digit cushion, 33-43 to the Greek side to start the second half. Sinica from downtown carried his team to 41-45, bur Carter answered with a deep three extending the margin to 41-50. Sinica kept his team in it, but Carter raised the difference to 47-58. The two remained hot in the final 30 seconds of the quarter to make it 55-61. Back-to-back triples nailed by Carter and McCollum established a comfortable 59-69 cushion for the guests. Mazeika kept his side in the picture from the foul line, but another three from McCollum rejected the attempt by Neptunas to get closer. Marius Runkauskas excited the crowd with his basket from three-point range to get very close, 73-76, but a Duvniak jumper and Carter, who capped an amazing shooting performance from the arc, sealed the guests' win.

Head Coaches

MAKSVYTIS, KAZYS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"This time we were slower and we were late in many situations. Panionios played a very good match. We tried not to lose the game, but when we realized that we will not be able to do that, we tried to lose by less than 5 points. Anyway, we will try our best to go through to the next stage."
SFAIROPOULOS, IOANNIS
Panionios Athens
"It was a hard match, but we were in front by a few points the entire game, and at the end we won it."

Players

GALDIKAS, SIMAS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"We tried and really wanted to win, but this time we had not succeeded. That is sport, we can do nothing about it. But we must not get upset, we will try to play better in the next game."
CARTER, MARC
Panionios Athens
"This time we played harder, both on offense and on defense. After the first match in Athens, we made some conclusions, and we played differently this time around. I want to make congrats to Neptunas, the game was not an easy walk."
