Paf of Bologna achieved its first victory in the Euroleague after many difficulties, because Zalguiris fought until the last minute and had its chance to tie the score with the 3-pointer missed by Tomas Masiulis, together with Gregor Fucja the best player tonight. The Lituanian team was always ahead of the Italians during the first quarter, but in the second, the problems began because the Ukranian center Hyzhnjak committed his third foul, the same as Marculionis. The entry of the center Giacomo Galanda, who scored 10 points in 10 minutes, and the superb playing displayed by the center Eurelios Zukauskas before his ex-team (11 points in 11 minutes), led Paf to tie the score in the half time (49-49) and Hyzhnjak finished the second quarter with already 4 fouls.
In the second half, Paf achieved its first noticeable advantage in the scoreboard in the 7th minute of the third quarter (64-49), and everything seemed even easier without Hyzhnjak who was eliminated in the 8th minute because of his 5th foul, but Eurelios Zukauskas also had to leave the court because of the same reason. Zalguiris played all the second half with a 2-3 zone defence and didn't even give up with 11 points under the Italians (71-60 in the 9th minute of the third quarter). In the last part, the great Fucka (21 points, 7 rebounds) led his team to 84-71, but the Lituanians with a 12-1 run, came as closer as 87-83 and had their chance to tie the score with only 14 seconds remaining, with 88-85 in the scoreboard, but their best man, Tomas Masiulis (18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals) missed the 3-pointer, which allowed Meneghin to convert a free throw after receiving a foul, enough for the victory. Zalguiris left Bologna having showed a good level in its playing, while in Paf's playing, Carlton Myers and Alessandro de Pol's injuries showed that this team depends too much on them.
