Khimki Moscow Region clinched first place in Group E with a 95-76 victory on the road at Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir – its eighth straight win to improve to 8-1. Paul Davis paced Khimki with 21 points while Mike Green and Petteri Koponen both had 14 and Marko Popovic added 11 points. Khimki made 15-of-28 three-pointers (53 percent) in the victory. Despite dropping to 5-4, Pinar also advanced to the Last 32 thanks to Igokea Aleksandrovac’s win over Lukoil Academic. Esteban Batista led Pinar in scoring with 18 points while Jon Diebler knocked down four three-balls for 14 points, Bobby Dixon had 12 and Baris Hersek and Leo Lyons both chipped in 11 in the loss.

Khimki led 4-7 early before Lyons knocked down a trey to tie the game and Diebler’s basket gave the hosts their first lead 9-7. Green answered with a three before back-to-back Diebler long balls for a 19-18 Karsiyaka lead. Khimki shut down the Turkish hosts and went on a 3-14 run with Mickael Gelabale and Sergey Monia both hitting long balls and Davis scoring six points for a 22-32 cushion after one quarter. Davis pushed the lead to 12 points with the first basket of the second period. Batista trimmed the gap to 27-34 when Khimki essentially decided the game. Koponen nailed two long balls and Green added a trey of his own in a 1-13 Khimki surge for a 28-47 advantage. Karsiyaka could only get the margin down to 14 points and trailed 37-55 at half-time. The cushion was still 40-58 before Hersek and Diebler both hit long balls to cut the deficit to 50-62 with six minutes left in the third quarter. But Khimki drained three three-pointers in an 0-11 run over four minutes to push the lead to 50-73. The guests were still ahead 58-80 after three quarters. Popovic drained two triples early in the third quarter to increase the cushion to 27 points – 61-88 – and Pinar would not get closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
