Moldoveanu, Jaramaz lead Turow past Seville

In a thriller which went down to the final shot, PGE Turow Zgorzelec registered its first win in Group L by edging Baloncesto Seville 87-84 at home on Wednesday. Turow improved to 1-1 in Group L while Seville dropped to 0-2. Damian Kulig paced the winners with 19 points. Mardy Collins added 16, Michal Chylinski had 15 while Nemanja Jaramaz and Vlad Moldoveanu each got 13 for Turow. Ben Woodside led Seville with 17 points. Pierre Oriola added 15 while Alex Urtasun and Willy Hernangomez each had 12 for the guests, which overcome an early deficit to get a 26-27 edge after 10 minutes and extended it to 28-35 soon after that. Kulig and Chylinski led a 16-2 run which made Turow get a 50-43 margin at halftime. Seville rallied for the best part of the second half but a free throw by Oriola gave the guests a 71-72 edge with 4 minutes left. Seville led 75-76 with over a minute left but Moldoveanu and Jaramaz combined for 10 points in crunch time to lead Turow to a big win. Seville had the chance to send the game to overtime but Nikola Radicevic missed a running shot from beyond the arc seconds before the final buzzer.

Filip Dylewicz and Collins shined early to give Turow a 7-2 lead. Urtasun struck from downtown and Oriola added a layup but Chylinski kept the hosts ahead, 12-7. Kulig followed free throws with a jumper but a three-pointer by Berni Rodriguez tied it at 16-16. Another triple by Urtasun soon gave the guests their first lead, 18-19. Ondrej Balvin took over with consecutive baskets but three-pointers by Jaramaz and Collins restored a 24-23 Turow edge. A dunk by Balvin and a layup by Kristaps Porzingis gave Seville a 26-27 edge after 10 minutes. Prozingis and Balvin kept pacing the guests and a jumper by Nikola Radicevic made it a seven-point game, 28-35. It didn't last long, however, as Kulig and Chylinski fueled a 16-2 run which gave Turow a 44-37 margin. Woodside hit free throws and Porzingis dunked but Collins and Kulig made Turow keep a 50-43 margin at halftime. Collins hit a jumper soon after the break and Ivan Zigeranovic added an off-balance layup for a 54-45 Turow margin. Oriola and Hernangomez stepped up to bring Seville a bit closer, 56-52. Collins banked in a close shot and Moldoveanu added a three-pointer which ignited the crowd at 61-52. Oriola kept pacing Seville and a huge basket by Woodside made the hosts call timeout at 63-59. A three-pointer by Taylor gave Turow a 66-59 margin after 30 minutes. Derrick Byars buried a triple early in the fourth quarter and Hernangomez dunked to make it a one-point game, 66-65. Jaramaz hit a five-meter jumper and Kulig struck from downtown to make Seville call timeout at 71-65. Woodside, Oriola and Hernangomez combined for all points in a 0-7 run which completed the guests' comeback, 71-72, with 4 minutes left. Collins and Jaramaz restored a 75-74 Turow edge with 2 minutes remaining. Urtasun hit free throws which Moldoveanu bettered with a triple. A layup by Hernangomez tied it at 80-80 but Jaramaz followed a baseline jumper with free throws. Moldoveanu also hit foul shots for an 86-83 Turow lead with 11.8 seconds left. Woodside went 1-of-2 from the line but so did Moldoveanu. Seville had a chance to force overtime but Radicevic missed a running three-point shot at the buzzer.
