Zadar took a step towards the qualification for the next phase as it managed to defeat EiffelTowers Den Bosch at home on Tuesday night by 84-65. The win allows Zadar to get a share of the second place in a three-way tie with Unics Kazan and Hapoel Jerusalem with 4 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, EiffelTowers drops to 2-6 and has no options to advance to the next round. The game was balanced until the halftime break as defenses worked hard, but a scoring run at the start of the third period allowed Zadar to pull away for good. Julius Johnson led the way for Zadar with his 24 points, Todor Gecevksi added 14, Shamell Stallworth 13 and Jere Macura 10. For the guests, only Darrell Tucker scored in double digits as he nailed 31 points.

A triple by Dean Oliver led the EiffelTowers to a starting 6-7 edge in the first moments, but Todor Gecevski scored 6 points to put Zadar ahead, 12-11. Darrell Tucker stepped up for the guests with his 10 points in the first period but the great 11 of 16 from the field by the hosts allowed them to build a respectable lead after 10 minutes, 24-16. Defenses stepped up in the second quarter as both teams were finding difficulties to score. Tucker was still the light that led the EiffelTowers, 30-26 after 15 minutes, as Zadar struggled from the arc with 0 of 6 attempts and could not pull away. The 12 turnovers at the break were the main factor why EiffelTowers were behind in the game but soon Greg Stevenson pulled the guests within 36-34. However, the last two baskets of the first half went for Zadar as Todor Gecevski closed the deal with a 40-34. The second half started with a 9-4 Zadar burst with a triple by Shamell Stallworth included that made it 49-38 in just a few minutes of play. That scoring run was just what Zadar needed to pull away as Tucker closed the third period for the EiffelTowers with a triple, his fourth, that made it 65-51. A 9-5 start to the last quarter by Zadar made it a 20-point game and the hosts never looked back, managing to get a share of third place in a battle in Group I that will only be decided in the final acts of the regular season.
