Chylinski shines in PGE Turow's big home win

PGE Turow Zgorzelec send a message that echoed all around Group L by thrashing Telenet Ostend 99-71 at home on Wednesday. Both teams now hold 2-1 record, and share the first place in Group K with Lietuvos Rytas. Michal Chylinski paced the winners with 28 points on 6-of-9 shots from downtown. Damian Kulig added 19, Vlad Moldoveanu had 16, Tony Taylor got 13 while Mardy Collins contributed 12, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for Turow. John Prince led Ostend with 22 points. Jared Berggren added 10 for the guests, which led 4-11 early in the game. An outstanding Chylinski allowed Turow to get a 26-20 lead after 10 minutes. Turow boosted its margin to 50-36 at halftime and then again to 73-54 at the end of the third quarter, more than enough to keep full control of the game until the final buzzer. Turow hit 15-of-32 three-point shots and outrebounded Ostend by 40-31.

Quentin Serron and Mateusz Ponitka shined early to give Ostend a 2-7 lead. A layup by Khalid Boukichou soon made it a seven-point game, 4-11. Boukichou kept pacing the guests with a three-point play but Chylinski and Mardy Collins fueled an 8-0 run which gave Turow a 15-14 edge. Damian Kulig stepped up with consecutive baskets but a layup by John Prince gave Ostend its last lead, 19-20. Chylinski sank back-to-back triples to give Turow a 26-20 edge after 10 minutes. Chylinski got help from Vlad Moldoveanu and Ivan Zigeranovic make it a double-digit game, 32-22, early in the second quarter. Boukichou, Prince and Dusan Djorjevic allowed Ostend to get some hope at 40-35. Chylinski - who else? - hit two more triples in an 8-0 run that broke the game open, 48-35. A free throw by Prince and a put-back layup by Moldoveanu fixed the halftime score at 50-36. Collins and Tony Taylor shined after the break and Chylinski downed his sixth triple for a 57-40 Turow margin. Prince tried to ignite Ostend's comeback with back-to-back layups but Collins and a red hot Chylinski kept the hosts way ahead, 64-46. A jumper by Chylinski soon made it a 23-point game, 71-48, but Ponitka and Berggen brought Ostend within 73-54 after 30 minutes. Three-pointers by Filip Dylewicz and Kulig kept Turow way ahead, 81-60, early in the fourth quarter. The hosts kept scoring fluently and a triple by Moldevanu sealed the outcome, 89-64, with over 4 minutes left, as Ostend could not recover.
